  • Whether you participate or not, every player who shows up before, during, or after League play will receive 1 point.

  • Individual matches will consist of both medal (total strokes) and match (hole-by-hole) play. Individual matches will be conducted at the full handicap differential, but up to a maximum of 18 strokes. 2 points will be awarded to the winner of the medal play segment and 2 points will be awarded to the winner of the match play segment of each match. Should there be a tie in the medal and/or match play portion, then 1 point will be awarded to each player in that segment or those segments.

  • You may play any set of tees that you want at both Oakwood and Ironwood, but once you decide on a particular set of tees at each course, we ask that you stick with the same set of tees all season long. The League will handle all scoring and handicaps in accordance with USGA rules. Spring, summer, and overall standings will be published weekly.

Participation in these special events is optional and will cost $5 per player per event entered, which is payable to whomever is running the League that day. The winner of each special event will receive 50% of the cash pot and 1 point.

Unplayable Lie or Ball in the Desert, Lost, or Out of Bounds

Slow play is the number one problem in golf today. Please don’t be that person, so please do your best to play “ready” golf. It is not necessary to rush, but please do move quickly between shots and don’t doddle. Record your scores on the next tee box, not on the hole you just finished. Our time-par goals are 2 hours max when we’re playing foursomes in the spring and 1.5 hours max when we’re playing twosomes in the summer. Meeting or even beating these time-par target times are everyone’s responsibility in every group! Please embrace it!

Replace and/or put sand in your divots. Repair all ball marks on the green. Rake traps until smooth. Essentially, leave the course like you would want it to be if you were in the group behind.

In an effort to speed up play, the following exceptions to USGA rules apply:

  • Lift, Clean, & Place: Without penalty, you may lift, clean, and then place (LCP) your ball within one club length of its original location but no closer to the hole. LCP applies everywhere except if your ball is out of bounds, in a penalty area (water), in a bunker, or on the putting green. In other words, LCP applies if your ball is in a divot, on a bare spot in the grass, in the dirt, or even in the bushes.

  • Decorative Rock: If you find your ball inbounds and in an area covered or filled with decorative rock (DR) larger than a standard marble (5/8 inch or 16mm), then without penalty you may drop your ball within one club length of the nearest point of relief from where your ball was found in that DR (could be grass or dirt) and no nearer the hole.

  • Desert or Unplayable Lie: If you hit a shot into the desert or anywhere on the course for that matter and you find it
unplayable and the LCP and/or the DR rule doesn’t get you out of trouble, then under a penalty of one stroke, you may:

    • USGA: Replay the shot that resulted in the unplayable lie, drop your ball no more than two club lengths from and no closer to the hole than where your ball was found unplayable, or drop your ball as far back as you want to but must keep the point where your ball was found between your dropping point and the pin.

    • League: In addition, if your ball crossed grass on its way to the unplayable lie, then you may drop your ball no more than two club lengths from where the ball last crossed grass.

  • Lost Ball or Out of Bounds: If you hit a shot that is lost outside a penalty area or believed/confirmed out of bounds,
then under a penalty of one stroke, you may drop a ball within two club lengths of where your ball last crossed grass or where your ball went out of bounds. If after a USGA mandated maximum 3-minute search, you find your ball unplayable, cannot find your ball, or find your ball out of bounds, then you shall proceed in accordance with the rules described above.
